Practitioner's Toolkit:

professional goals

As I finish my degree studying Television and Digital Media, I find myself interested in the communications side of the industry. After completing a Visitor Services internship at the Paley Center for Media, I was able to gain insight into working in the media industry. Through this internship, I worked live events, administrative tasks, and creating proposals. As a result, once I graduate I would like to work in public relations and/or a sub-category of public relations, social media. I would love to combine what I have learned in my major classes paired along with what I learned in an environmental biology course. After taking this science course, my eyes were opened to a new reality. Through this class, I learned about sustainability, the climate crisis, and how I can contribute to making the planet a cleaner place to live through every action I take. It is my dream to take the knowledge and lifestyle I developed from this class, along with my production and writing skills I gained in my major courses, to create texts for a company that shares the same values. As a result, I would like to work for Wilderness Collective or at a company such as L.L. Bean. Both companies work to inspire others, create content, products, and host events that serve to help the environment in the long run.

Throughout courses I have taken such as “Creating Content for Social Media,” “Race, Ethnicity, and the Media,” and “Writing for the Media,” I am now equipped with both advanced writing skills as well as the reasoning for why we are creating texts the way we do. With these two components, I will be able to create effective connections and relationships. Additionally, I will be able to share campaigns and company values creatively and effectively, ultimately benefiting and strengthening a companies’ relationship with its customers and followers.
